Exporting device usage details

You can export a report of device usage data in CSV, Excel, or XML format.

For a single device, you can export up to 365 days of usage data; for multiple devices, you can export up to 30 days.

Device usage data is uploaded on a daily basis at the start of each day (00:00 local device time A date and time expressed in a device's local time zone, as opposed to server time. In the console, local device time applies to usage data collected from devices, and the scheduling of some device action requests.).

To export usage data:

  1. Do one of the following:

    • To export data for a single device, open the Usage page for the device and click Export.
    • To export data for multiple devices:

      1. Open one of the following items:

      2. [Optional] Filter the report to refine the list of devices.
      3. On the action toolbar, click (Export usage).

You can export usage data for up to 5000 devices, but exporting data for more than 2000 devices may take a few minutes to complete. To export usage data for more than 5000 devices, schedule the report and select the Include Device Usage details option.

  2. On the Export Usage dialog, click the Format field and select one of the following options:

    Option Description
CSV (.csv) with column names Exports the report (including column headers) in Comma Separated Values (.csv) file format
CSV (.csv) without column names Exports the report (excluding column headers) in Comma Separated Values (.csv) file format
    Excel (.xlsx)

Exports the report (including column headers) in Microsoft Excel Open XML Spreadsheet (.xlsx) file format

If the report contains more than 1 million rows, select the CSV format. Reports of this size are not supported in Excel.

XML (.xml) Exports the report in Extensible Markup Language (.xml) file format
  3. Click the Date range field and select an option.

If you're exporting usage for a single device from its Usage page, you can export the last 30, 60, 90 or 365 days of data.

If you're exporting usage for multiple devices, you can export the last 7, 14, 21 or 30 days of data.

  4. Click Export.

  5. After the report has finished downloading, open the report using software that supports the report's file format. For example, you can use a spreadsheet application, such as Microsoft Office Excel or OpenOffice Calc, to view a XLSX file.

By default, the report file name includes the date and time of the export in the following format:

<Device Usage Details>_yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm.<file extension>

The exported Device Usage report includes the following columns:

Identifier

Device Name

Date

Timestamp (Local Device Time)

Usage

Activity

BSSID

SSID

Local IP

Local IPv6 address

Public IP

Public IPv6 address

Active Directory OU

Username

Note that each date's total minutes of activity are shown in the Usage column while the user authentication events that occurred on that date are shown in the Activity column.

Depending on the device's operating system, power settings, activity type, and the method used to power off the device, some information may not be available. When this happens, the field is empty when you export the data.
